York Avenue San Francisco: The Look for Less

In the previous post, we shared our full Before and After of the York Avenue project in San Francisco. Read below to see how to get “The Look for Less” for a similar living room feel, built from affordable retail sources.

Creating a “Look for less” can be a challenge, but we are always up for it. The York Avenue living room had a number of custom or one-of-a-kind elements, which can be difficult to source retail. The original color-blocked slipper chairs were existing pieces that we re-upholstered in a custom designed and fabricated textile. There’s not something like it out there, so instead we created a color block effect by choosing a pair of slipper chairs that are available in many fabrics. The two colors relate to each other and work with the overall color scheme. The art was also challenging, but we were able to come up with three pieces that can either stand alone or work as a triptych. As for the cocktail table, we were able to find an option that was gold and black with some visual interest.
