Dream Project: Colorful Mediterranean

Dream Project Manifestation: two to go!

I love this one. I have always adored Mediterranean style homes with the Spanish tile roof, plaster, and wrought iron. While they are more common in California (or I guess in the Mediterranean?), there ARE some examples here in Minnesota, including this beauty currently for sale near Lake Harriet.

Isn’t she beautiful?

I love that this house is stately but not particularly formal. We tend to dress these houses down, not up, to align with modern living and family life, and this would be no exception.

Inside, this home has some gorgeous tile in the entryway, and it is a jumping off point for the color palette.

We pulled some of those cheerful blues and greens, and reflected the orange tone in cognac leather, then threw in some sunny marigold and wheat to round it out. Fabrics are block-printed linen, the art is vintage, oil, European, and some modern profiles keep a bit of a collected edge. We bring in movement unexpectedly, in a viney border on that rug and some splatter painted ceramic pitchers (full disclosure: those were on my wish list last year and my mom bought me all three for my birthday—how lucky am I?)

This house just calls for warmth, natural materials, timeless motifs, and pieces with patina. It would be so fun to collect all of the elements from all of our fabulous vintage vendors!
