Project Spotlight: Tahoe

Oh man, this is a fun one!

When previous clients from San Francisco (see their Mission District home here) reached out to say they had purchased a home in Tahoe and they would like to furnish it as soon as possible, we said Heck Yeah! It’s a 4 bedroom home with huge windows and some funky architectural details like a catwalk and loft you reach by a ladder. A little quirky, just how we like it.

The house is in a community mostly built in the 70s and at first I thought we would do some groovy 70s neutral palette with funky furniture shapes, but these guys are major color lovers and things sort of took on a life of their own.

One of our early jumping off points was a large scale artwork by my friend Tia Keobounpheng from her series Who Do You Think You Are, which gave us an unusual mix of colors (Navy, mint, rose, gold) and a graphic geometry to play off of.

Vintage tulu rugs, Lake August wallpaper, a blue-stained dining table, boucle mushroom stools, overscale wall sconces, guatemalan textiles, fabric prints that range from Josef Frank to Anna Spiro to Brook Perdigon, a healthy does of today in furniture pieces from Minneapolis-based blu dot and Sarah Sherman Samuel…this might be our most mixed-up Mix to date, and we can’t stop won’t stop.

A renovation of the kitchen and bathroom will take place next spring, so the full project reveal is a ways off, but stay tuned to instagram for sneak peeks when we head out there in August!
