How to: Style an Entry Console

Lauren here - The entry is the first impression of your home. This is a great place to display a favorite piece or item and show your guests your style and aesthetic. Read below for tips and tricks on how to style your entry console.

Pick an interesting console table as your jumping off point. Here I show two different tables. One is a beautiful burlwood table with an extra shelf to display more items and the other is a linen wrapped waterfall console.

Then add a mirror or interesting piece of art behind it. For the burlwood table, I chose a fabulous piece of art by Jocelyn Marsh. For the linen table, I chose a couple of convex mirrors that can be placed together by Robert Sukrachand. Then I chose a mirror that could work with either option by Magni Home Collection.

Start to layer on pieces after that. You do want something that adds height - a lamp, vase or sculpture/object can do this. I also love plants, so I always take advantage of any opportunity to bring in greenery. If you use a plant, you obviously want to choose the right planter. I chose an eclectic planter for the burlwood console and a brass planter for the linen console.

Always, always, always add books if you have the space! Books are great for color, to flip through, and to add height to a table. An absolute MUST when styling. Pro tip: Etsy has great book stacks for reasonable prices. The Tom Ford fashion book looks great in any setting. Complete the look with a Chanel series and The Finer Things. If you want to add a splash of color, I’d recommend Assouline books. Book ends are another fantastic way to add another element. These cheetah bookends are pricey, but so amazing!

A catchall tray or dish is another functional item that can be added to a console and it can still be a focal point. On the burlwood console, I opted for something smaller that can hold keys, while on the linen console, I chose a larger tray.

This is also a perfect place for a candle. I love candles and there are so many good ones out there. Tom Dixon makes gorgeous candles in fun colors and Diptique makes some of the best smelling candles. Baies is my favorite!

Last but not least, a small box to store small items, dog leashes, keys, hand sanitizer, etc. is another functional thing that can still be an element.

I hope you learned some tips and tricks on how to style your entry console.
